Para el 2005 la división juvenil de Toyota aumenta su gama y lanza el primer Scion real en la forma de su tercer modelo disponible: el Scion tC.

Los dos modelos de lanzamiento de la marca, la xA y xB, eran en realidad modelos que Toyota ya comercializaba en Japón. El tC será el primero que sea completamente nuevo y solo se venderá en territorio estadounidense.

La llegada de este nuevo modelo concuerda con el lanzamiento de la marca a nivel nacional ya que solo se comercializaban en la costa debido a una campaña de marketing de lanzamiento.

Este nuevo modelo también será el primer coupé de la marca que parece una combinación muy bien lograda de varios modelos de la competencia. El frente nos recuerda a un Volvo S40, los laterales a un BMW serie 3 y la trasera a un Honda Accord coupé, claro que todo esto a menor escala, haciéndolo un coche llamativo.

La calidad de los acabados es de primera calidad y el ensamble de los interiores no se queda atrás. El equipamiento es bastante completo con vidrios y seguros eléctricos, rines de 17 in. y una amplia gama de equipos de sonido.

La motorisación estará a cargo de un I-4 de 2.4 litros con 160 hp. y caja manual de 5 velocidades, se ofrece una automática de 4 como opción. Para los que crean que este motor no es suficiente, más adelante se ofrecerá un supercargador como equipo extra en los distribuidores de Scion.

Few cars in the under-$20,000 segment promise as much style and fun as the Scion tC. This compact sport coupe has a long list of standard equipment and a low price that undercuts the competition by thousands. And as part of Scion's mission to appeal to younger buyers, the tC can also be customized to a considerable degree with additional options. Whether you like it stock or modified, the Scion tC is a worthy choice for an affordable coupe.

The tC debuted for the 2005 model year as the most traditional offering in the Scion brand, which otherwise consists of funky four-door hatchbacks. Those unfamiliar with Scion's short history might be surprised to learn that it was created by Toyota as a means of attracting more youthful buyers. This means that one can assume with fair confidence that the parent company's reputation for building reliable and durable cars also applies to the tC.

Current Scion tC

The Scion tC is a five-seat compact coupe with a hatchback trunk. Power comes from a strong 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine good for 161 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque. A five-speed manual is standard and a four-speed automatic is optional. Fuel economy is one of the tC's detriments, with an EPA combined rating of 24 mpg for the automatic -- about the same that most midsize sedans offer.

The tC comes in one trim level. Standard equipment includes 17-inch wheels, air-conditioning, split-folding-and-reclining rear seats, keyless entry, full power accessories with one-touch power windows, a dual-pane sunroof, cruise control, steering-wheel-mounted audio controls and a premium sound system with both a standard auxiliary audio jack and a dedicated iPod interface. Four-wheel antilock disc brakes are also standard on all tC models.

A considerable number of optional features and accessories (from the factory or dealer-installed) are also available on the Scion coupe. Highlights include interior and exterior styling mods, a front-seat side and head curtain airbag package, 18-inch wheels, audio system head unit upgrades and Toyota Racing Development (TRD) performance parts. The most notable TRD upgrade is a supercharger that raises engine output to 200 hp.

Although the Scion tC is classified as a compact car, its relatively long wheelbase provides more than ample legroom, especially for those riding in the back. Long doors and sliding seats on both sides make entry and exit relatively easy, and rear passengers will also enjoy the split seat backs that can individually recline up to 45 degrees. The tC's cabin has an upscale look and feel thanks to high-quality materials and metallic-look trim pieces. An elegant "waterfall"-style center stack flows into the center console.

The tC's hatchback trunk design allows extra flexibility when it comes time for carrying cargo. By folding down the rear seats, the tC has nearly as much cargo volume as a compact SUV. The tC's passenger-side front seat also folds down flat, which provides the opportunity to load up long items such as snowboards or surfboards.

In Scion tC reviews, our editors have commented that the car is enjoyable to drive. Although its acceleration figures aren't stunning, the tC is quick enough for typical urban use. The sport-tuned independent suspension and wide tires also make the compact car fun to pilot on twisty roads. In posted consumer commentary, owners frequently praise the car's long list of standard features, sunroof and value for the money. Complaints are few but typically mention the car's large blind spots, so-so fuel economy, easily scratched or chipped exterior paint and the engine's high rpm at cruising speed.

Past Scion tC Models

The Scion tC has changed very little since its introduction for 2005, but there were minor exterior and interior updates made for 2008 -- including the addition of an iPod-specific interface. There have been several updates made to the available stereo systems over the years, along with new items added to the extensive optional features list.

A decontented, tuner-intended version known as the Spec was available for a few model years and can easily be picked out of a crowd by its unique paint colors and badge-less grille.

Aqui hay un resto de esos. Pegaron bien fuerte y he oido muy buenos comentarios. Por ser mas nuevecitos parece ser un poco mas carito arreglarlos pero igual estan sacando muchas partes aftermarket para irlos arreglandos. El TC esta muy bonito pero luego tienen en AB y BX ( si no estoy mal) que estan horribles.

Mira Wichito... hasta tener un toyota... sabras que hay cosas que no se preguntan....
Te explico.. Es Toyota.. te enamoraras de su funcionamiento, bajo mantenimiento, etc......

ME URGE... comprar LAND CRUISER........... doy ribete si esta firmada por el piloto...............

ya fuera de bromas.. al llaverito ya se le metieron otros.. 38,000 km y solo se le cambio la faja. nunca fallo.

Lo que me ahueva e s la carroceria ya que e so si no es de Camry ........ y ala hora de venderlo como le ira en la reventa ???????

TODO LO QUE ES DE TOYOTA ES BUENO, RECOMENDABLE, Y SI NO ESTA GOLPEADO SE LOGRA REVENDER MUY BIEN. Esa nave es una belleza, viene arreglada de fabrica, con aros, frenos especiales, cola de pato, luces de leds, xenon (creo que de serie), etc, etc...
